田近竹邨 Tajika Chikuson (1864-1926)
Nanga artist of the Meiji - Taisho period. Born in Takeda, Bungo Province. Studied nanga under Fuchino Keisen, and later went to Kyoto to study under Tanomura Chokunyu at the Kyoto School of Painting. Founded the Japan Nanga Academy with Komuro Suiun, Yamada Kaido and others, and devoted himself to the development of the nanga world in the Taisho era. Died in 1926, aged 59.

Carved into a vision of layered blue‑green peaks, this hanging scroll—attributed to Tajika Chikuson (1864–1926)—unfolds a tranquil landscape where a distant castle rises among pines and mist.
