狩野養川院惟信 Kano Yosenin Korenobu (1753-1808) Japanese antique Paired kakejiku kakemono wall hanging scrolls / Landscapes Rising Sun and Moon with Appraised Box RD631

This scroll comes with an appraised box by 小西福年 Konishi Fukunen (1887-1959) in 1919.

狩野養川院惟信 Kano Yosenin Korenobu (1753-1808)
Kobiki-cho Kano school 7th painter. His father was 狩野典信 Kano Michinobu (1730-1790) and his son was 狩野栄信 Kano Naganobu (1775-1828). He succeeded to the position established by his father and rose to prominence unusually early among the Kano school painters of the past. He worked on many paintings for the Edo Castle and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. He is known for his mild and light brushwork.

with signature 'Yosen hogen hitsu' 養川 法眼 筆 and seal 'Genshisai' 玄之斎

小西福年 Konishi Fukunen (1887-1959)
Born in Fukui Prefecture in 1887. He was apprenticed to Suzuki Shonen in Kyoto, where he received the name "Fukunen" from his teacher. He also studied Noh drama and tea ceremony to enhance his painting style. He excelled in landscape and flower-and-bird paintings.

This scroll comes with an appraised box by 小西福年 Konishi Fukunen (1887-1959) in 1919.

狩野養川院惟信 Kano Yosenin Korenobu (1753-1808)
Kobiki-cho Kano school 7th painter. His father was 狩野典信 Kano Michinobu (1730-1790) and his son was 狩野栄信 Kano Naganobu (1775-1828).
